Destination enterprises earns top cmaa honor for lax/metro transit center
April 9, 2026
LOS ANGELES, CA — Destination Enterprises (DE), a woman-owned certified Small Business Enterprise specializing in public transit construction management, has been selected, along with our project partner KDG, as recipients of the 33rd Annual CMAA Southern California Chapter Project Achievement Award in the Transportation: Highways, Bridges, Rail, Aviation, Maritime (Over $50M) category for its work on the LAX/Metro Transit Center.
The award will be presented at the annual CMAA Southern California Chapter Gala on May 27, 2026, at the InterContinental Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, one of the region’s most prestigious events honoring excellence in construction management.
“This CMAA honor recognizes the DE’s successful business partnerships that serve the community and help preserve the planet.”
— Marcy Szarama, President & Principal Consultant, Destination Enterprises
The LAX/Metro Transit Center is a $50M+ transportation infrastructure project. DE assembled a team of women-led companies to deliver the project, bringing Marcy’s 30 plus years of industry expertise, spanning construction management, change negotiation, claims resolution, and dispute avoidance, to every phase of work.
The project was submitted for the award in partnership with KDG Construction Consulting.
Founded in 2005, Destination Enterprises has built its reputation on a straightforward conviction: that excellence in construction management and genuine commitment to community are not competing priorities; they are the same priority. That philosophy has driven two decades of work on behalf of public sector clients across California, including LAWA, LA Metro, Caltrans, BART, SANDAG, and numerous regional transit authorities.
Community Highlight: 9th District South Central Winter Wonderland
December 13, 2025
LOS ANGELES, CA - Destination Enterprises was honored to participate once again in the 9th District South Central Winter Wonderland community holiday event, a gathering that exemplifies the spirit of service, solidarity, and seasonal giving.
As part of our ongoing commitment to the communities we serve, DE contributed dog food and bowls to residents in need. The response spoke for itself: every donation was claimed within 30 minutes. It's a simple but powerful reminder that thoughtful, targeted giving meets real needs, and that every member of a community, including its four-legged residents, deserves to be seen and supported.
What distinguished this event was not only the scale of participation, but the quality of connection it fostered. Families, neighbors, volunteers, and local leaders gathered in shared purpose, embodying the kind of community-first spirit that Destination Enterprises was built to champion.
Events like this are where our mission becomes tangible. DE's vision to transform neighborhoods and enhance the lives of all beings is not reserved for large-scale initiatives. It is lived in moments like these: on a winter morning, present and engaged alongside the people we serve.
We extend our gratitude to the 9th District for hosting another outstanding event, and we recognize our President, Marcy Szarama, Dr. Sherman Gay, and the entire DE team for their continued generosity, leadership, and presence in the field. Showing up consistently, with intention and heart, is how lasting community trust is built.
Destination Enterprises looks forward to returning next year.
Grand Opening of the LAX/Metro Transit Center
June 6, 2025
LOS ANGELES, CA - Destination Enterprises was proud to be in attendance at the Grand Opening of the LAX/Metro Transit Center this past June, celebrating a landmark moment in the evolution of Los Angeles' public infrastructure.
This transformative project achieves something long envisioned for the region: a direct connection between the Los Angeles Metro system and LAX, making travel more efficient, sustainable, and accessible for millions of Angelenos and visitors from around the world. It is the kind of investment that changes how a city moves and, by extension, how it grows.
The timing could not be more significant. With Los Angeles set to host matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and serve as the host city for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the LAX/Metro Transit Center will play a central role in welcoming the world and moving people across the region with the efficiency and sustainability that a global stage demands.
Destination Enterprises is especially proud of the role our colleagues played in bringing this complex, high-impact project to completion. Their expertise and dedication are now woven into the fabric of Los Angeles' infrastructure legacy.
We also take particular pride in highlighting the leadership of DE President Marcy Szarama, who collaborated in curating an all-women-owned-business construction management team for this project. That achievement reflects our organization's broader commitment: to build not only structures, but a more equitable and inclusive industry.
This is what it means to help a city shine on the world stage. Destination Enterprises is honored to be part of it.
